Becky Adams

Hi! I’m Becky, and I’ve been coming to Kingston Vineyard ever since I started my degree in Fine Art at Kingston University in 2015. I’ve found such a home here, and God has grown me so much as part of this family! Having graduated in July, I’m now spending this academic year as a ‘Relay Worker’ with UCCF, supporting students in Christian Unions in London Arts Colleges.  UCCF is a fellowship of students, staff and supporters from churches all over the country working together to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the message of Jesus.

I loved being a part of the Christian Union in such a diverse university like Kingston. It encouraged me so much in holding onto my faith on an art course – with its unique challenges and opportunities – and grew my confidence and enthusiasm for sharing the hope I have from my relationship with Jesus. CU’s are an amazing way to start necessary conversations across universities about Jesus, faith and the Bible: all topics that are unexpected or even unpopular in the often very secular context of art, so I feel I’ve been given a precious opportunity to continue investing in them as a graduate.

I’m really excited to spend this year encouraging and helping London Arts students grow in their understanding of who Jesus is and how they can show this to their friends, and discover how their faith can impact their work in the worlds of art and design.  I’m so grateful to have Kingston Vineyard’s support in all of this, this is not something I can even hope to do in my own strength, so it’s a privilege to do this as part of KV! It’s so necessary to have people praying for what God is doing in these universities, as well as supporting me financially as Relay is voluntary work.

I’m working with the CU’s at Ravensbourne University in North Greenwich, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in Camden and the Royal College of Art in South Kensington, as well as spending some time each week with Arts Students at Kingston, going through a book together as a small group linked to their wider CU. I also can’t wait to study the Bible deeper for myself through Relay’s theology study modules, and to see what God has to say for my own life and art practice as I continue to make art too!
